Putin says Bush orchestrated Georgia crisis
San Jose News.Net Thursday 28th August, 2008
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has accused the United States of orchestrating the Georgian crisis to benefit one of the presidential candidates, a claim the White House calls 'patently false.'
In an interview with the television network CNN, Mr. Putin said Russian defense officials told him the United States encouraged Georgia to attack the breakaway region of South Ossetia. The Russian prime minister did not identify which presidential candidate he was referring to, and he offered no proof of his accusation.
A White House spokeswoman, Dana Perino, called Mr. Putin's claim 'just not rational.' She said Russian defense officials are giving Mr. Putin bad advice.
The spokeswoman noted wide support for maintaining Georgia's territorial integrity, and she said President Bush is concerned that Russia is still not in full compliance with the French-mediated cease-fire in Georgia.
In Tbilisi, Georgian lawmakers unanimously backed a non-binding resolution calling on the government to break diplomatic ties with Russia and declare Georgia's two breakaway regions, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, areas under Russian occupation.
Earlier, Russia's Asian allies expressed concern about the Georgian crisis and called for dialogue. But leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, meeting in the Tajikistan capital, did not express full support for Russian actions in South Ossetia. They stressed the importance of territorial integrity.
Their decision followed a personal appeal from Russian President Dmitri Medvedev, who outlined his country's position on the crisis. The Russian leader called the conflict probably the most dramatic episode of recent times, and he accused the Western news media of incorrectly portraying the actual aggressor.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization brings together China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
Georgian troops went into South Ossetia on August seventh to try to retake control of the breakaway region. Russia replied with tanks and thousands of troops, saying it had to protect Russian citizens there.

Putin get 80 percent acceptance rating in Russia; he stop Russian economy from decline and now improving at an above average rate.
Bush get 30% acceptance rating, he screw up american economy by venturing in unnecessary wars.
So Sammy what kind of simple logic you use to gauge them as equal?

Bush & US's double standard
US & EU have been playing double standard against non allied states.
First, The US invaded Iraq without UN approval and making the country in mess.
Second, Disrespecting the UN recognized borders of Serbia by recognizing kosovo’s U.D.I
Third, The US had turned a blind eye on the atrocities made by its allies. like Israel against palestine and Georgia against abkhazia & south Ossetia.
And now you are attacking Russia because Russia did not bow on your policy???

Eurasia has alwasy been at war with Eastasia
Check the AP articles from 8 9 08 and see that it’s not a matter of opinion who attacked, it’s a fact. When the Ministry of Truth gets through, and all the inconvenient facts are memory holed, Big Brother will convince you that they are in league with Goldstein himself.
Seriously. Go google something. 2+2=4

Please, do not cheat us!
By a way, what Putin had originally said -according to a piece of his speech in Russian RELIABLE Western TV stations broadcasted worldwide- was “It seems, someone in the USA created this situation [round Georgia] to benefit a particular presidential hopeful”.
Given traditional politics games, it is quite realistic conclusion mentioning NO Bush at all.
And this is not only one example of “lost in translation” tricks while interpreting from foreign languages, either in English or in Russian surely.

What price US intelligence?
The U.S.A. maintains it was not aware that Georgia was going to attempt to assert its authority over its breakaway region of S.Ossetia by force of arms. This raises a very pertinent question. How efficient are the intelligence services of the U.S.A if they were not aware that a close ally was about to take a step that would escalate world tensions dramatically? What does this say about their ability to find out what an enemy plans to do? There has been a statement from U.S. official sources that Georgia was warned not to do this. If this is correct it implies that the U.S. did have advance warning of Georgia’s intentions and was content with a simple warning. Would not a more forceful approach have succeeded where a warning failed miserably? Perhaps Putin is right to question Washington’s motives!

Putin says Bush orchestrated Georgia crisis
In this case I would rather believe Putin than Bush. Compare the two’s performance the last ten years its apparent Clinton & Co, then Bush &Co started all of the wars in the region, non by Putin.
By the way, Georgia and Ossetia are both break away regions of former Soviet Union, they should respect each other’s territorial integrity. Georgia should not start war for American hegemon to put their feet in that peacefull region.

Sammy has computer breakdown
Yes my fellow posters, this is a very interesting topic to commend on, but unfortunately, due to my US fallen dollar, I am stuck with an old broken down computer and I cannot at the present afford to purchase a new one, we can thank the bush administration for this, because they have been very careless about keeping the US economy on the right track.
But to give an evaluation between the two leaders, it is not even worth the time, because neither of them are responsible persons, and they do not look after the interests of their citizens, but they prefer to cherish their own interests.

Yes, but how are the acceptance ratings made in Russia?
Anonymous

It would be interesting to know how the acceptance ratings are made in Russia, are they made in a free and impartial atmosphere, or are they made under a government supervised agency which generally establishes the ratings by choosing selected individuals who are politically motivated.
After reading what happens to Russian journalists, I reserve the right to express an opinion in regards to what really happens behind the Russian scenes, and I do believe that very few polititions come up with a 80% acceptance ratings.
So I still keep to my opinion that both men are equal in their ways of governing and promoting their interests first, above those of their citizens.

Hitler's approval rating
I believe Hitler had a pretty high approval rating in Germany when he was in office. Does that mean he was a good Chancellor? Oops I mean dictator?
